1. AutoCAD yg biasa digunakan untuk membuat suatu gambar 2D atau model 3D YANG MEMBUTUHKAN PRESISI SKALA. Biasanya digunakan oleh anak2 teknik baik arsitektur, sipil, landscape, dan teknik2 yg laen. Biasanya mereka bikin site plan, potongan, tampak perspektif, dll. Tapi tidak menutup kemungkinan bagi mereka diluar jurusan itu untuk menggunakan AutoCAD. Oh iya, seiring dengan perkembangan software, kegunaan AutoCAD juga bertambah. Di AutoCAD 2007 misalnya, kita udah bisa bikin animasi pendek dari model yg kita buat.
2. AutoCAD Land Development. Ini banyaknya dipake sama Anak Landscape, Ilmu Tanah dan Teknik Sipil. Gunanya untuk membuat model kontur (bentukan muka bumi) dari hasil pengukuran teodolit dan GPS. Hasil bentukan di AutoCAD Land Development ini dapat digunakan untuk menganalisa cocok-tdknya rancangan atau konstruksi yg kita buat atau menganalisa Erodibilitas Tanah
